About Department

University Department of English, L.N.M.U., Darbhanga was established in 1972 to impart quality Teaching and Research in the field of English Literature and Language. There are five teachers and three non-teaching staff in the Department, It is situated in the Nargauna Campus and functioning in Maharani Haveli. There are two class rooms. There are two rooms for the office of the Department of English including the chamber of the Head. The Dept. has a well furnished Library. There are more than 200 students in the Department. Classes are held regularly according to the Time-table. Teaching & Non-teaching staff are punctual and their performance is excellent, Syllabus is completed in scheduled time.Internal Examinations are conducted in time. Research activity, Seminar, Workshop and Debate etc. are organized time to time in the department. More than 27 students have been awarded Ph.d. degree in (Literature & Language). More than 02 scholars have been awarded D.Lit. & 10 students have qualified NET. The results of Examination is outstanding because in 4th Semester more than 80% of students were declared 1st Class recently.

On the whole, the department of English possesses all the qualities of a model department.
